M. Soccer Ends Nonconference Play With Loss at Lehigh

Box Score

BETHLEHEM, Pa. -- A three-goal flurry over a nine-minute stretch during the final 12 minutes doomed the Fairleigh Dickinson men's soccer team in a 4-0 loss at Lehigh on Tuesday night at the Ulrich Sports Complex. With the victory, the Mountain Hawks improve to 7-7-0 on the season, while the Knights fall to 3-9-2 overall.

FDU mixed its lineup in its final nonconference affair of the season and trailed 1-0 late into the 16th minute after David Zipkin found Kyle Chin, who beat Knights' goalkeeper Aleksandar Djekic (Belgrade, Serbia/Druga Ekonomska Skola). That would be the score after the first 45 minutes, with the home team holding a 4-1 advantage in shots.

Lehigh would then dominate the second half in shots, 8-1, but the Knights hung tough until the late scoring started with a goal from Doyle Tuvesson in the 78th minute. Gianfranc Giammatteo netted the final two goals for the Mountain Hawks, coming six minutes apart in the 81st & 87th minutes, respectively.

Djekic made two saves between the pipes for FDU, who returns to action on Sunday, Oct. 26 when it returns to Northeast Conference action to take on LIU Brooklyn in a key road contest. Kickoff in Brooklyn, N.Y. is slated for 2:30 p.m.
