Box Score SMITHFIELD, R.I. – The Fairleigh Dickinson women's soccer team set a new program record with its 11th victory of the season on Sunday afternoon, a close 1-0 contest at Bryant. With the win, FDU improves to 11-4-0 (4-1 NEC) on the season, while the Bulldogs fall to 3-12-1 (1-2-1 NEC) overall.
"I think this is the type of game we can learn from." Head Coach
Eric Teepe said, "We had to grind out the win in a physical game in a tough environment. From an attacking standpoint, we needed to keep the ball moving. I felt in the second half we got away from keeping possession. In the end, getting a win on the road is huge for us."
Connie Lewis (Outer Cove, Newfoundland/Gonzaga )' 19th-minute strike, her seventh of the season, from the top of the box was enough for the Knights to walk away with their second straight win, and seventh in eight, to keep the team atop the Northeast Conference standings at 4-1.
FDU outshot the hosts, 16-12, with junior
Esther Rochon (Saint Romuald, Quebec/College Francois-Xavier-Garneau) tallying a game-high five.
Felicia Burr (Bellingham, Mass./Blackstone-Millville ) made three saves as the Knights kept their seventh cleansheet of the campaign.
The Knights return home to host Sacred Heart this upcoming Friday night, Oct. 24, before heading to Wagner two days later on Oct. 26. Kickoffs are slated for 7 p.m. and 1 p.m., respectively, and both matches will be broadcast live on NEC Front Row.
