HACKENSACK, N.J. -- The Fairleigh Dickinson men's basketball team (8-13, 4-3 NEC) will look to bounce back from a tough overtime loss last night when it takes on Saint Francis University (5-15, 3-4 NEC) in Northeast Conference action on Saturday afternoon. Tipoff at DeGol Arena in Loretto, Pa. is scheduled for 2 p.m. and will be broadcast live on NEC Front Row.
Last Time Out
The Knights was defeated at Mount St. Mary's in overtime, 87-82, on Thursday night. FDU led by nine with 3:46 remaining in regulation but could only score two points down the stretch. The Mount tied the game at 69-69 on a three-pointer with 5.8 seconds left, before senior
Sidney Sanders Jr. (Charleston, S.C./Burke) layup rolled off the front rim at the buzzer. The Mount would take control in overtime, extending their lead to as many as 12, before hanging on for the five-point victory.
Sanders Jr. scored 17 of his team-high 21 points after halftime, including 16 in the second half, while dishing out a team-best five assists to lead the Knights. Freshman
Matt MacDonald (Buffalo, N.Y./Canisius) and sophomore
Xavier Harris (Philadelphia, Pa./Constitution) added 11 points, and junior
Mustafaa Jones (Philadelphia, Pa./Neumann-Goretti) tacked on 10 points. Graduate student
Scooter Gillette (Philadelphia, Pa./Neumann-Goretti) nearly collected a double-double with nine points and a team-high nine rebounds.
FDU also turned the ball over a season-high 22 times, which proved to be the biggest difference in the game.

What You Need To Know: The Knights will visit DeGol Arena searching for their first win there in nearly six years. A win will keep FDU at no worse than third place in the standings but a loss would move the Red Flash into a tie with the Knights. Saint Francis will be playing its fifth straight conference game at home, and the Red Flash has won their last two with victories over Sacred Heart (68-66) and Central Connecticut State (69-63), with the latter giving Saint Francis the season sweep over the Blue Devils. But the Red Flash has been competitive in all of their NEC contests, including losses at Bryant (77-67), at Robert Morris (73-68), home versus Wagner (56-50) and home vs. Mount St. Mary's (83-77). Junior Earl Brown is arguably the best big man in the conference, leading the league in rebounding at 9.7 rebounds per game to go along with 16.0 points per game.
