W. Soccer Blanked at Columbia, 2-0

NEW YORK -- The Fairleigh Dickinson women's soccer team concluded its four-game road trip Sunday night with a 2-0 loss to Columbia at Columbia Soccer Stadium. With the victory, the Lions improve to 4-2-1 on the season, while the Knights fall to 3-5-1 overall.

The game was scoreless over the first 67 minutes until Columbia's Natalie Melo beat senior goalkeeper Sage DoVale (Lilburn, Ga./Collins Hill) to give the Lions a 1-0 lead. The home team then put the contest away when Elly McGuffog scored in the 84th minute.

FDU held an 11-8 advantage in shots, and DoVale made on save in goal for the Knights.

FDU will return to University Stadium next Sunday, Sept. 29 for a 1 p.m. contest with Delaware State.
