EMMITSBURG, MD. -- The Fairleigh Dickinson baseball team dropped the opening contest of its four-game series with Mount St. Mary's, 7-1, Friday at Straw Family Stadium in Northeast Conference action. With the victory, the Mountaineers improve to 8-25 (3-14 NEC) on the season, while the Knights fall to 9-27 (4-17 NEC) overall.
The home team scored single runs in the first two innings before plating a pair in the third and fourth frames to take a 6-0 lead.

Kyle Weeks (Middle Island, N.Y./Longwood)' two-out RBI double in the top of the eighth, cutting the deficit to 6-1.
The Mount tacked on one last run in the home half of the eighth to take the first game of the series, 8-1.

Craig Warner (Coral Springs, Fla./Stoneman Douglas) (0-5) was charged with the loss on the bump after throwing the first 3.1 innings. He allowed six earned runs on eight hits, walked three and struck out one.

Eric Anderson (Allendale, N.J./Northern Highlands) went 3-for-3 to lead the offense, which only collected seven hits. Weeks extended his hit streak to eight games with his RBI double.
MSM finished the contest with 13 hits and was led by Tom Healy, who went 4-for-5 with two runs and an RBI.
Scott Nickerson (2-5) picked up his second win of the season for the Mount after limiting the Knights to one earned run on six hits in 7.2 innings. He walked one and struck out seven.
The two sides will resume the series on Saturday with a pair of seven-inning contests, with game one of the doubleheader slated for 1 p.m.
