TEANECK, N.J. -- The Fairleigh Dickinson baseball team will host Saint Peter's in a midweek nonconference contest at the Naimoli Family Baseball Complex on Wednesday at 3 p.m. The contest was originally scheduled for March 6 but was postponed because of inclement weather.

The Knights (5-24) are coming off a tough weekend that saw them drop three of four games to LIU Brooklyn in Northeast Conference play. Besides the series opener, FDU was in every game and won game three, 4-3, in seven innings.

Freshman Joel Roman (East Hartford, Conn./East Hartford) hit safely all four contests, batting .429 (6-for-14) with three doubles, a run and an RBI while recording a .467 on-base percentage. The Knights' starting third baseman now has a five-game hitting streak and is 11 for his last 22 (.500) with four doubles, four runs and three RBI. Over his last 10 games, Roman is hitting .404 (13-for-32) with four doubles, one home run, seven runs and four RBI while reaching base at a .486 clip.

Senior Kyle Weeks (Middle Island, N.Y./Longwood), who is the lone Knight to play and start all 29 games, leads FDU in hitting (.304), walks (17), hit by pitch (6) and on-base percentage (.432). He is the co-leader in hits with sophomore Riley Moonan (Syracuse, N.Y./Cicero North), as both have 31, and he is the co-leader in doubles (7), sharing team-high honors with Moonan and Roman.

Moonan leads FDU with 21 runs, 111 at-bats, an NEC-leading four triples and a .414 slugging percentage. Senior Eric Anderson (Allendale, N.J./Northern Highlands) leads the team with 12 RBI, with Weeks and freshman Ryan McGrath (Lansingburgh, N.Y./Lansingburgh) right behind at 10 RBI apiece.

Offensively, the Knights are hitting .258 and average 3.6 runs per game. On the mound, FDU has pitched to a 7.88 ERA in 235.1 innings of work while walking 143 and striking out 138.

Freshman Nick Cuono (Hawthorne, N.J./Montvale Saint Joseph ) leads the pitching staff in wins (2) and innings pitched (32.1). Sophomore Brendan Butler (W. Sayville, N.Y./Sayville) has struck out a team-high 24 in 29.0 innings, and fellow classmate Yonah Perline (Dix Hills, N.Y./St. Dominic) has a team-best 5.05 ERA in 20 appearances out of the bullpen, tying sophomore Anthony Calise (Pearl River, N.Y./Pearl River).

Saint Peter's (11-19), who was picked to finish eighth in the nine-team Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference, has lost three of its last four games and hosts Wagner this afternoon and have already lost to the Seahawks three times this season. The Peacocks have also lost to NEC foes Sacred Heart and Monmouth before routing LIU, 18-8.

As a team, SPU is hitting .253 and averaging 4.7 runs per game. Senior Matt Mancini leads the squad with a .330 batting average, 36 hits and 19 runs. Senior Matt Speckman had also scored 19 runs and is the team leader in RBI (26) and stolen bases (8). Junior James Smith adds a .310 batting average, 19 RBI and a team-high 10 doubles.

Defensively, the Peacocks have a .958 fielding percentage and have committed 45 errors. Opponents are averaging 6.3 runs per game while hitting .311 off SPU pitching. In 237.2 innings on the mound, the pitching staff has allowed 289 hits and 116 walks while striking out 144 and posting a 5.79 ERA.

The two sides will be meeting for the 71st time, with FDU leading the all-time series, 45-25. The Knights won last season's meeting, 7-4, at the Naimoli Family Baseball Complex.

FDU will return to action this weekend when it hosts Garden State-rival Monmouth in a four-game NEC series. Game one is slated to begin on Friday, April 19 at 3 p.m., while a pair of seven-inning contests will be played Saturday April 20 at 1 p.m. before the series finale on Sunday, April 21 at 1 p.m.
