Box Score

QUEENS, N.Y. -- The Fairleigh Dickinson baseball team fell to St. John's, 12-2, Wednesday at Jack Kaiser Stadium. With the victory, the Red Storm improves to 4-11 on the season, while the Knights fall to 2-6 overall.

FDU took an early 1-0 lead in the top of the second, as senior Eric Anderson (Allendale, N.J./Northern Highlands) scored on freshman Dylan Sprage's RBI sacrifice fly to left-center field.

After that it was all St. John's. The Red Storm answered with two runs in the bottom half of the second and added a pair of three-spots in the third and fourth innings, before scoring two more in the sixth and single runs in the seventh and eighth innings to take a 12-1 lead.

The Knights managed a run in the top of the ninth on Anderson's RBI single to make the final score 12-2.

FDU had chances to score throughout the contest but could not get the big hit and left 12 runners on base. Sophomore Ryan MacDonald (Bethpage, N.Y./Island Trees) led the Knights' eight-hit attack with a 2-for-2 effort and reached base two more times with a pair of walks.

Freshman Logan Frati (Manorville, N.Y./Eastport/South Manor) (0-1) made his first career start on the bump and was tagged with the loss after allowing eight earned runs in 3.1 innings. He allowed nine hits, walked one and struck out two.

St. John's finished the contest with 17 hits, with Frank Schwindel going 4-for-4 with three runs and two RBI. Eight different pitchers saw action for the Red Storm.

FDU will return to action on Thursday with a 3 p.m. contest at Stony Brook on Long Island.
