M. Basketball to Face Mount St. Mary's in Season Finale

HACKENSACK, N.J. -- The Fairleigh Dickinson University men's basketball team will take on Mount St. Mary's in the final contest of the 2012-13 season.  Tipoff at Stratis Arena is slated for 4:30 p.m. as part of a men's/women's doubleheader and Winter Homecoming.

The Knights are 7-23 on the year and 2-15 in Northeast Conference action after falling to Wagner on Thursday, Feb. 28.

The team is led by a trio of seniors, who will be playing their final game at Stratis Arena in Saturday.  Kinu Rochford (Brooklyn, N.Y./James Madison) paces the team with 14.7 points and 9.1 rebounds per game, while Melquan Bolding (Mt. Vernon, N.Y./Bishop Stepinac) and Lonnie Robinson (Deerfield Beach, Fla./Deerfield Beach) add 13.3 and 8.8, respectively.  All three seniors have produced 20+ point games this season and will be looking to end their careers with a strong team effort.

As a unit, the Knights have averaged 65 points per game this season, while allowing opponents to total 78 points per contest.  The Knights shoot 43 percent from the floor with a 35.2 shooting percentage from beyond-the-arc.

Mount St. Mary's is 15-13 this season with a 10-7 NEC record and currently holds sixth place in the conference standings.  The team defeated Monmouth, 77-63, on Thursday and is currently riding a six-game winning streak.

Rashad Whack leads The Mount with 13.4 points per game, while Julian Norfleet and Sam Prescott each add 10.6 points.  Prescott is the team's high rebound collector with four per game.

As a team, the Mountaineers produce 68.4 points per game, while allowing opponents to score 71 points per contest.  The team converts 43 percent of shots from the field and grabs 28.1 rebounds per game.  The “Mount Mayhem” style of play forces 16.9 turnovers per game with the team recording 8.8 steals a contest.

FDU and MSM have met 46 times since 1956, with the Knights holding a 25-21 advantage in the all-time series. The Mount took the win in the last seven out of eight contests, by an average of 14 points per game, but the Knights defeated the Mountaineers, 72-65 in the NEC opener in Emmitsburg, Md. earlier this year.
