What You Need To Know: The Blackbirds have won back-to-back conference championships and have reached the NEC tournament in nine straight years. Despite losing 10 seniors from last year's championship team, LIU enters the tournament as the conference's hottest team and are coming off four straight victories and five in its last six after suffering a 2-0 loss to FDU on Oct. 11 at LIU Field. Freshman Jenn Peters leads the team with 15 points (6 g, 3 a), while senior Shino Kunisawa (3 g, 1 a) possesses excellent technical ability and provided the lone goal in the season finale victory over Mount St. Mary's, which catapulted the Blackbirds into the NEC tournament ahead of Wagner. Senior goalkeeper Jessica Sexton has started every match this season and holds a 1.27 goals against average, with 95 saves and four shutouts.
