M. Basketball Faces Hartford Friday Night

HACKENSACK, N.J. -- The Fairleigh Dickinson men's basketball team (1-1) will look to move back to the win column Friday night when it takes on Hartford at Chase Arena at Reich Family Pavilion in West Hartford, Conn.

Last Time Out
The Knights were defeated on the road at Hofstra, 80-58, last Sunday. Senior Sidney Sanders Jr. (Charleston, S.C./Burke) led FDU with 13 points and three assists, while graduate student Scooter Gillette (Philadelphia, Pa./Neumann-Goretti) and freshman Malachi Nix (Evanston, Ill./Niles North) chipped in 12 and 10 points, respectively. Gillette also added a team-high seven rebounds.

What You Need To Know: The Hawks have already had a busy week of games, where they first played in the ESPN 24-Hour Tip-Off Marathon at Florida Gulf Coast in a 7 a.m. contest on Tuesday (falling 65-51), before rebounding on Wednesday with a 63-53 victory at Fairfield. Hartford opened the season last Saturday with an 82-77 loss to Quinnipiac at the Connecticut 6 Classic in Bridgeport, Conn. Junior Mark Nwakamma leads the Hawks in both scoring and rebounding  at 20.3 points and 8.7 rebounds per game while shooting a team-best 52.5 percent from the field.

FDU will head to Tucson, Ariz. to partake in the first two rounds of the 2013 NIT Season Tip-off. The Knights will open up with No. 6/5 Arizona on Monday, Nov. 18 in a nationally-televised game on ESPNU at 11 p.m. EST, before playing either Rhode Island or Metro State on Tuesday, Nov. 19 at 8 or 11 p.m. EST.
