HACKENSACK, N.J. -- After playing the first 12 matches of the season away from home, the Fairleigh Dickinson women's volleyball team will make its Stratis Arena debut on Wednesday, Sept. 19, with a 6 p.m. match with nonconference opponent NJIT.

The Knights (4-8) have been idle since beating Bryant, 3-1, in the Kaiser Classic finale on Sept. 8 in Queens, N.Y. FDU's win over Bryant snapped a four-match losing streak. Wednesday will mark the first match of a four-match homestand for the Knights, which includes the beginning of Northeast Conference play on Saturday.

FDU is familiar with NJIT (5-9), having played the Highlanders eight times since 2006. During that stretch, the Knights have gone 5-3 against their in-state rivals. The Burgundy and Blue is riding a two-match winning streak against the Highlanders.

Last September, the Knights took down NJIT by a 3-2 margin to improve to 8-3 at the time. Deborah Hong (Rutherford, N.J./Rutherford) and Taylor Roland-Buohl (Lancaster, Pa./Lampeter-Strasburg) put together strong defensive efforts with 15 and 10 digs, respectively, while Meaghan Wheeler (Chatsworth, CA/Chaminade College Prep) picked up a double-double with 27 kills and 14 digs.

In 2012, Wheeler leads the NEC with 218 kills and 4.45 kills per set. Her kills per set mark currently ranks 17th in the nation, and her 5.06 points per set is good enough for 21st in the nation.

NJIT has lost four matches in a row with three-set losses to Temple, Maryland and St. John's to go with a 3-1 loss at the hands of LIU Brooklyn.

The Highlanders, who compete in the Great West Conference, have three players who have recorded at least 100 kills on the season in Janet Snell (157), Fran Edmondson (115) and Camilla Tinari (111).

The Knights will look to build on last season's success at home where they went 5-5.

After NJIT, the Knights will begin NEC competition with a 1 p.m. showdown with Quinnipiac on Saturday, Sept. 22, at Stratis Arena.
