Ira Miller announced the fall portion of the upcoming 2012-13 season on Thursday. The Knights, the defending Northeast Conference Champions on the men's and women's sides, are fresh off trips to the NCAA Tournament in May.
"We're excited to have, once again, such a strong fall tournament schedule,” Miller said. “It will help maximize our chances to build on this past spring's success."
The men's squad, which finished with a 15-9 record in 2011-12, will get the upcoming season underway at the Princeton Invitational in Princeton, NJ on Friday, Sept. 14. The invitational will run through Sunday, Sept. 16.
Next up, the Knights will head to Flushing Meadows, NY to participate in the USTA Invitational on Friday, Sept. 21, through Sunday, Sept. 23.
The following weekend is the ITA All-American, which is a two-day affair on Saturday, Sept. 29, and Sunday, Sept. 30, in Tulsa, OK.
The Knights will play their first dual match of the season on Wednesday, Oct. 3, at the FDU Tennis Center in Teaneck, NJ at 3 p.m. Last fall, FDU beat the Pride, 5-2, in Hempstead, NY.
Returning to tournament play, the Burgundy and Blue will stay in the Metropolitan area for the Columbia Classic on Friday, Oct. 5, through Sunday, Oct. 7, in New York, NY.
The men's team is set to round out the fall slate at the ITA Regional Championships on Thursday, Oct. 18, through Tuesday, Oct. 23, in New Haven, CT.
Coming off a 16-8 season and the program's first trip to the NCAA Tournament, the women's team will open competition at the Stony Brook Classic in Stony Brook, NY beginning Friday, Sept. 14, and running to Sunday, Sept. 16.
After a week of practice, the Knights will head up to West Point, NY for the Army Tournament on Friday, Sept. 21, through Sunday, Sept. 23.
The Knights will then return home for a mid-week dual match on Thursday, Sept. 27, against NEC foe Monmouth at the FDU Tennis Center at 3:30 p.m.
Traveling to Flushing Meadows, NY, the Burgundy and Blue is scheduled to compete in the USTA Invitational on Saturday, Oct. 6, through Monday, Oct. 8, before heading to South Orange, NJ on Tuesday, Oct. 16, for a 2 p.m. match at Seton Hall.
The Knights are set to conclude fall action by returning to West Point, NY for the ITA Regional Championships on Friday, Oct. 19, to Tuesday, Oct. 23.
