W. Fencing Heads to Illinois for Northwestern Dual

The Fairleigh Dickinson women's fencing team will face off against some of the top teams in the nation at this weekend's Northwestern Duals on Feb. 4 and 5 in Evanston, IL.

First on Saturday's schedule for the Knights is the host team Northwestern. The Wildcats checked in at No. 4 in the nation in the latest CollegeFencing360.com Women's Coaches Poll.

Over the course of the weekend, FDU will compete against a who's who in collegiate fencing including No. 2 Princeton, No. 10 Duke and North Carolina, which received votes in the national poll.

Also on the schedule for the Burgundy and Blue are California Institute of Technology, Stanford, Stevens Institute of Technology, Detroit-Mercy, Lawrence and UC San Diego.

The last time the Knights were in action was Jan. 21 at the Philadelphia Invitational. Junior Sophia Bischof (Bonn, Germany/Albert Einstein Gymnasium) and sophomore Hanna Heldenmuth (Miami, Fla./Keystone National) turned in the top performances with matching 6-9 records in sabre. FDU will get another shot at North Carolina and Duke after facing them at the Invitational.

After the Northwestern Duals, the Knights return to the East Coast for the NYU Squad Championships on Feb. 26 in New York, NY.
