M. Tennis Hits the Road to Take on Columbia

The Fairleigh Dickinson men's tennis team is set to take on Columbia Friday, Feb. 24, at 2 p.m. at the Dick Savitt Tennis Center in New York, NY.

FDU (2-2) will be facing an Ivy League opponent for the second-straight match after falling to Penn their last time out on Feb. 18 in Philadelphia, PA.

In FDU's 6-1 loss to the Quakers, the Knights came away with a win at the No. 2 doubles slot from senior Dominic Hemy (Suffolk, England/Ipswich School) and junior Yuri Gricheno (Sao Paulo, Brazil/Colegio Amorim). Penn picked up the doubles point, however, with wins at No. 1 and No. 3 doubles.

In singles, junior Ibrahim Shams (Cairo, Egypt/Manor House) took care of business at the No. 1 spot with a 3-6, 7-5, 10-8 victory for the Knights' lone point on the afternoon.

The Lions (5-2) are coming off the ECAC Tournament on Feb. 17 through 19 in Hanover, NH. Over the course of the weekend, Columbia dropped 4-2 decisions to Cornell and St. John's before capping off the tournament with a 3-2 win over Yale.

Later in the weekend, the Knights will travel to Princeton to face the Tigers in another non-conference dual on Sunday, Feb. 26, at 4 p.m.
