HACKENSACK, N.J. -- Looking to build off last weekend's 2-0 record, the Fairleigh Dickinson women's volleyball team will be shooting for a three-match winning streak when it takes on Northeast Conference opponent Bryant on Sunday, Oct. 7, at 1 p.m. at the Chance Wellness Center in Smithfield, R.I.

FDU (7-10, 3-1 NEC) is currently tied for third in the conference standings, while Bryant (6-13, 0-3 NEC) is tied for seventh and still searching for its first NEC win of the season.

The Knights know what to expect from the Bulldogs, as the two squads matched up on Sept. 8 at the Kaiser Classic in Queens, N.Y. FDU got the better of the play on the day, winning 3-1 behind 21 kills and 18 digs from senior Meaghan Wheeler (Chatsworth, CA/Chaminade College Prep). After dropping the first set, FDU reeled off three straight wins thanks to 10 kills from freshman Jordon Collis (Frisco, TX/Frisco), 17 digs by sophomore Deborah Hong (Rutherford, N.J./Rutherford) and 16 from junior Taylor Roland-Buohl (Lancaster, Pa./Lampeter-Strasburg).

Following FDU's impressive weekend with wins over St. Francis NY and Sacred Heart, the Knights' first win over the Pioneers since 2008, three players were recognized by the NEC office. Wheeler was named Molten/NEC Player of the Week, Hong was honored as Co-Defensive Player of the Week and freshman setter Allison Butler (Plano, Texas/Plano) was named Co-Rookie of the Week.

Wheeler ranks ninth in the nation among Division I athletes with 4.67 kills per set and 10th in points per set with 5.24. As a team, FDU is second in the NEC with 103 service aces and 1.54 aces per set.

Bryant enters the weekend matchup fresh off a 3-0 win at home over Providence on Tuesday. Prior to the win, the Bulldogs had lost four in a row with three of those losses coming to NEC opponents.

During their Sept. 8 match, Bryant's Emily Kaup led the offense with 11 kills. On the season, Kaup is just one of four players with at least 110 kills. Freshman Claire Van Dyk leads the way with 195 kills, while Alexandria Clyburn is second on the team with 157.

Sunday's match is in conjunction with the Northeast Conference and Side-Out Foundation's Dig Pink efforts to help raise awareness and funds for breast cancer research. All fans attending the matches are encouraged to wear pink and proceeds from the match will be distributed among research teams focused on target therapies and molecular profiling, as well as "living with cancer" organizations nationwide.

Following the Bryant match, the Knights will play another road match in Brooklyn, N.Y. against LIU Brooklyn on Wednesday, Oct. 10, at 6 p.m.
