TEANECK, N.J. – The Fairleigh Dickinson University women's soccer team will host the Red Flash of Saint Francis PA on Friday, Oct. 19 as part of an FDU soccer double header. Kickoff at University Stadium is slated for 4 p.m., with the men's game to follow.
The Knights are 5-8-3 on the year with a 2-5 record in Northeast Conference action. They defeated Wagner, 3-0, and fell to Bryant, 1-0, in double overtime last weekend.
FDU has outscored opponents, 19-17, this season with an average of 11.4 shots per game, while holding other teams to 9.6 shots per game. They have scored 1.19 goals per game and allowed 1.06 goals per game.
Freshman Rachel Hoekstra (Bowmanville, Ontario/Clarington Central ) leads the team's offense with nine goals and two assists. The rookie tied the single-season goal record and set a new single-season point record in the Wagner game.
Rookie Felicia Burr (Bellingham, Mass./Blackstone-Millville ) earned her first start in the net last weekend and recorded 195 scoreless minutes before allowing her first goal in the second overtime period against Bryant.
SAINT FRANCIS
Saint Francis is 9-3-2 on the year with a perfect 6-0 mark in the NEC. The team ranks second in the conference, only behind Monmouth, who has played two more games. They are 3-4-1 on the road.
The Red Flash averaged 16.6 shots per game, while holding opponents to 14.6 attempts per game. They have outscored opponents 27-11 on the season with a 15-1 advantage in conference play. Western Pennsylvania rival, Robert Morris, has been the only NEC team to score against SFPA so far this year.
Junior Tesa McKibben leads the team, and the Northeast Conference, with 12 goals and 10 assists on the season. McKibben is the only player with more points than FDU's Hoekstra. McKibben has earned NEC Player of the Week honors five times and was NEC Player of the Year in 2010 and 2011.
HISTORY WITH THE RED FLASH
The Knights are 4-6-2 all time against the Red Flash, dating back to 2000. The last win for the Knights was in 2008, when FDU defeated SFPA, 1-0, at University Stadium. In 2011, the Knights fell, 3-0, in Loretto, Pa.
