The Fairleigh Dickinson men's basketball team will look to end its 14-game losing streak at home against Robert Morris Thursday evening in a Northeast Conference tilt at Stratis Arena in Hackensack, NJ. Tip-off is slated for 7:00 p.m. This will be the second meeting of the season between the two schools with the Colonials winning back on December 1 at their place, 66-54, to commence NEC play for both schools.
The Knights (1-16, 0-6 NEC) suffered one of their toughest defeats of this season this past Monday at home to Longwood, 87-83. FDU had the ball down by only two with 12 seconds to go, but a turnover coupled with two made free throws by the Lancers with 2.1 seconds left sealed the Knights' chances for their second victory of the season.
FDU led by as many six in the first half but found themselves down four at halftime, 37-33. Eventually, Longwood outscored the Knights, 25-6, from the 6:30 mark of the first half to take its largest lead of the game at 46-33 with 17:37 left in the game. The Knights answered with a 21-6 run of their own to take a 54-52 lead with 12:20 to go. After the game was tied, FDU was able to extend the lead to 61-56 before the Lancers once again tied the game at 61 and were able to take a 73-69 with 5:09 to play. The Knights fought back to tie the game at 76, but Longwood extended its lead back to five at 81-76. FDU cut the lead to 82-81 with 40 seconds to go and to 84-83 with 14 seconds left but could not get any closer.

Melquan Bolding (Mt. Vernon, N.Y./Bishop Stepinac) led the Knights with a career-high 38 points (25 in the second half). He shot 50 percent from the floor as he went 12-of-24, knocked down 4-of-10 shots from three-point range and went a perfect 10-of-10 from the free throw line. Graduate student
George Goode (Raytown, MO/Raytown South) added 19 points (17 after halftime) and pulled down a game-high 11 rebounds for his fifth double-double of the season.

Sam Fernley (Sheffield, England/Silverdale) dished out a career-best six assists without committing a turnover.
The Knights scored a season high in points (83) and tied a season low in turnovers (11). They also dished out a season-best 19 assists on their 20 made baskets.
Scouting Robert Morris: The Colonials (13-6, 4-2 NEC) are coming off a 70-67 home win over Sacred Heart last Saturday to snap a two-game losing skid. RMU has won three of its last five games and nine of 13 dating back to its win over the Knights on December 1. They have defeated the likes of FDU, Monmouth and Sacred Heart at home and have also won at Bryant in conference play. The only two conference losses were at CCSU (68-53) and at home to Quinnipiac (78-76) last Thursday night at home. The Colonials have an impressive road win out of conference at Ohio (70-67).
Redshirt junior guard Velton Jones leads the Colonials in scoring with 15.7 ppg and also leads the team in assists (74) and steals (34). Redshirt sophomore guard Coron Williams is averaging 11.6 ppg and is connecting on 41.9 percent (44-of-105) of his three-point attempts. He is also shooting 90.0 percent (27-of-30) from the free throw line. Freshman forward Lucky Jones leads RMU in rebounding at 6.2 rpg.
All-Time Series: This will be the 65th meeting between the two schools with the series dating back to January 5, 1980, a 69-63 Knights' win at home on the old Rutherford, NJ campus. RMU holds a 34-30 advantage in the series including victories in the last eight and nine of the last 10. The last FDU win in the series took place on February 1, 2007 as the Knights held on for an 84-79 victory at RMU's Sewall Center in Moon Township, PA.

Lonnie Hayes (Cincinnati, Ohio/Harmony Prep) led the Knights with 25 points which all came in the second half. He buried 9-of-10 free throws, grabbed five rebounds, dished out a team-high three assists and registered three steals. The Knights dug themselves into a 36-14 halftime deficit but fought back in the second half. Trailing by as many as 24 (54-30 with 7:47 left in the contest), FDU outscored the Colonials, 24-12, who played their top players until the final seconds.
