The Fairleigh Dickinson University women's soccer team will take on two America East teams this weekend.
The Knights will host The University of Hartford on Friday, September 2 at 4:00 pm at University Stadium in Teaneck before traveling to Binghamton to take on the Bearcats on Sunday, September 4 at 1:00 pm.
Hartford has started the 2011 season with a 1-0-1 record after a double overtime 1-1 tie with Old Dominion and a 1-0 win over Holy Cross. Due to Hurricane Irene, the Hawks have not played since August 25.
The Knights have had ten days to prepare for the contest and have used that time to gain strength and stamina for this weekend.
Seventh year Head Coach John Natale's Hawks are aggressive this season, having tallied 14 shots on goal in two games and three yellow card cautions, compared to their opponents' zero.
The Knights will look to Rashidah Sherman (Pelham Manor, NY/Pelham Memorial) on offense for scoring opportunities. The senior recorded two shots against Rider and led the team in points in 2010. Sage DoVale (Lilburn, Ga./Collins Hill) tallied a shutout in 120 minutes in goal against Rider.
On Sunday the Knights will take on the Bearcats in Binghamton, NY. BU has played four games already and will have completed a fifth prior to Sunday's kickoff. The Bearcats are 2-2 on the season with overtime losses to St. Bonaventure and Buffalo. They defeated Delaware State, 1-0, and St. Joseph's, 2-0.
After the America East weekend tilt, the Knights will host NJIT on Friday, September 9 at 7:00 pm.
