Baseball to Travel To Mount Saint Mary's This Weekend for Critical Four-Game NEC Series

The Fairleigh Dickinson baseball team will take the four-hour trip southwest to Emmitsburg, MD to take on Mount St. Mary's in a four-game Northeast Conference series.  The Knights and the Mount are scheduled to play game one on Friday, April 1, at 3:00 p.m.; games two and three will be played on Saturday and will both be seven innings in length, while the series finale will be played on Sunday at 1:00 p.m.

The Knights (4-14, 1-3 NEC) have lost seven-straight games after dropping a 9-1 decision on Wednesday at Manhattan.  The series against the Mount will be FDU's second NEC series of the season.  Two weekends ago, the Knights dropped three of four to Quinnipiac to start conference play with a record of 1-3.

 Scouting Mount St. Mary's

The Mount comes into the weekend series with a record of 9-12 (2-6 NEC) and won a pair of mid-week games against in-state rivals Maryland-Baltimore County (8-6) and Navy (5-4, seven innings).  In conference play, Mount St. Mary's split its opening series at Wagner before dropping all four contests to Quinnipiac last weekend.

FDU and the Mount will be getting together for the 64th time in the all-time series.  Mount St. Mary's leads the all-time series, 37-26, as the series dates back to 1990.  The Knights won three of the four contests last season in Teaneck.  However, the Mount has won nine-straight games played in Emmitsburg, including a pair of four-game sweeps in 2007 and 2009.

Leading the Knights

Over FDU's last five games, senior Brian Dillon (Sarasota, FL/Cardinal Mooney) is the only Knight hitting over .300.  He is 9-for-19 (.474) with three RBI's.  Dillon is also three hits short of tying FDU's all-time hit record (201) and will have a great chance to break the record this weekend.  He is leading the Knights with a .384 batting average, 28 hits and 39 total bases.  Junior Ryan Kresky (Freehold, NJ/Freehold) leads the squad in runs scored with 17, while senior DJ Robinson (Woodbury, NJ/Gloucester Catholic) is the team leader in RBI's with 15.

Yesterday's starter, junior Mike Eliasen (Swedesboro, NJ/Gloucester Catholic), has been great over his last two appearances (both starts).  He has recorded a 3.09 ERA in 11.2 innings pitched.  He has allowed only four runs, all earned, on 14 hits, while striking out 10 and only walking three.  Eliasen is scheduled to start the Sunday game in the series.

Up Next

The Knights will travel to West Orange, NJ for a mid-week game at Seton Hall on Wednesday, April 6, before hosting a four-game NEC series at the Naimoli Family Baseball Complex versus Long Island starting Friday, April 8.
