The Fairleigh Dickinson baseball team hits the road once again to take on Manhattan in Riverdale, NY on Wednesday, March 30. First-pitch is scheduled for 3:30 p.m. The game was originally scheduled to be played at the Naimoli Family Baseball Complex in Teaneck, but unfinished construction prevented the opening of the new facility.
The Knights (4-13) have lost six-straight games after dropping three games this past weekend at the FDU Classic. The Knights lost to Saint Peter's, 10-4, before dropping a pair of games to Maine by scores of 4-1 and 5-1.
Scouting Manhattan
The Jaspers come into Wednesday's game with a record of 8-11. After starting out the season 2-9, Manhattan has won three of four and six of eight. Last weekend, the Jaspers swept Siena in a three-game series by scores of 4-1, 3-2 and 5-3. The Knights were swept by Siena two and a half weeks ago. Wednesday's game will be the first home game of the season for the Jaspers.
FDU and Manhattan will be getting together for the 47th time in the all-time series. The Knights lead the series, 30-16-1, as the lone tie was a 0-0 game back in 1962. The series dates back to 1958, and both teams played each other almost multiple times each year from 1965-1981 when they were both members of the old Metropolitan Conference. FDU won the last meeting between the two teams, an 11-5 Knights' victory back in 2009.
Leading the Knights
Senior Brian Dillon (Sarasota, FL/Cardinal Mooney) has been on fire over the Knights' last five games. He is hitting .611 by going 11-for-18 with two extra base hits. Dillon is currently hitting .406 and leads the team with 28 hits. He now has 198 for his career, three hits short of tying the FDU all-time career record (201).
Up Next
The Knights will travel to Emmitsburg, MD for a Northeast Conference showdown against Mount Saint Mary's in a four-game series. FDU will play at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, April 1, before playing a doubleheader on Saturday, followed by a single-game on Sunday.
