Men's Basketball Travels to Sacred Heart on Thursday

The Fairleigh Dickinson men's basketball team (4-23, 2-14 NEC) will be hitting the road for the second-to-last time this season as they travel to Fairfield, CT to take on the Pioneers of Sacred Heart at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 24.  The two teams met back on Jan. 8 as the Knights were a perfect 2-0 in NEC play heading into the contest.  Leading 43-38 with a little over seven minutes to go, the Knights saw the Pioneers end the game on a 29-7 run, triggering the current 14-game conference losing streak.

FDU is coming off a 77-65 home loss this past Saturday to Saint Francis PA.  It was the final home game of the season and the final home game at Stratis Arena for seniors John Galvin (Weston, CT/Weston), Terence Grier (Cranford, NJ/St. Thomas More Prep), Mike Scott (Philadelphia, PA/Texas Christian) and Kamil Svrdlik (Prerov, Czech Republic/Gymnazium Zlin).  Galvin picked up his fifth double-double of the season as he led the Knights with team highs of 16 point and 11 rebounds.  Scott added 15 points and went a perfect 7-of-7 from the free throw line.

Sacred Heart (10-17, 5-11 NEC) snapped a five-game losing streak this past Saturday at Bryant, 83-77.  The Pioneers still have an outside shot to make the NEC Tournament.

After playing Sacred Heart, the Knights will have a quick turnaround and will conclude its 2010-11 season with a 4:00 p.m. game at Quinnipiac on Saturday, Feb. 26.  The game will be broadcast live on MSG.

The Series Versus Sacred Heart: The Knights and Pioneers will be meeting for the 20th time as Sacred Heart took a 10-9 lead after the come-from-behind victory back in January at Stratis Arena.  FDU snapped a four-game losing streak in the series last season by sweeping the season series.  The Knights won, 88-85, in Hackensack last January to snap the skid before escaping with a 64-59 overtime victory in Fairfield last Feburary.  The Knights are 5-5 in games played in Fairfield.
