M. Basketball Denied at Stony Brook, 70-46

The Fairleigh Dickinson men's basketball team dropped its fifth-straight game as they fell at Stony Brook, 70-46, Wednesday evening at Pritchard Gymnasium in Stony Brook, NY.  With the victory, the Seawolves improve to 3-4 on the season, while the Knights fall to 1-7 overall.

Stony Brook shot 56 percent (14-of-25) in the second half as they broke open a 30-22 halftime by scoring the first nine points after halftime and eventually outscored FDU, 40-24, over the final 20 minutes.

The Seawolves also scored 24 points off 21 FDU turnovers.  The Knights only shot 34 percent (17-of-50) for the contest, while Stony Brook finished the game shooting 41.4 percent (24-of-58) from the floor and 39.1 percent (9-of-23) from three-point range.  FDU was also out-rebounded 39-34.

Grad student George Goode (Raytown, MO/Raytown South) picked up his second-consecutive double-double as he scored a team-high 13 points and grabbed a game-high 11 rebounds.  Grad student Mouhamed Lo (Port Chester, NY/Port Chester ), who made his first start of the season, chipped in a season-high 12 points and five rebounds. 

The Knights trailed by as many as eight in the first half (17-9), but a 9-3 run cut the Stony Brook lead to 20-18 with 6:55 to go before halftime.
Leading 25-22, the Seawolves scored the final five points of the half to go into the locker room up 30-22. 

Despite its 12 first half turnovers and poor shooting (32 percent, 8-of-25), FDU was still in the game as they held the Seawolves to only 30.3 percent (10-of-33) from the field.

Stony Brook started the second half on a 16-2 run and eventually outscored the Knights, 30-8 (going back to its 20-18 lead in the first half), to go ahead 50-26 with 12:04 left in the game.

The lead eventually reached 30 points before it ended with a 24-point loss for the Knights.

Dave Coley led the Seawolves with 16 points.  Bryan Dougher added 14, while Ron Bracey chipped in 10.

The Knights will return to action on Saturday, Dec. 10 when they travel to Louisville, KY to take on Louisville.  The Cardinals are currently ranked No. 4 in the country in the ESPN/USA Today poll and are ranked No. 5 in the Associated Press poll.  Tip-off at the KFC Yum! Center is scheduled for 4:00 p.m.
