The Fairleigh Dickinson men's basketball team will look to snap a season-high four-game losing streak when they travel to Long Island to take on Stony Brook in a non-conference tilt Wednesday night. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. at Pritchard Gym in Stony Brook, NY. The game will mark the fifth of six-straight away from Stratis Arena for the Knights.
The Knights (1-6) are coming off their toughest defeat of the young season, 73-69, in Northeast Conference action at Saint Francis PA. FDU led by as many as nine points (38-29) before halftime, but the home team was able to turn the deficit into an eight-point advantage (59-51) with under eight minutes left in the contest. The Knights were able to cut the lead to one twice down the stretch but could never get over the hump. FDU had its best offensive night of the season (season-high 57.1 percent shooting, 28-of-49; 55.6 percent from three-point range, 5-of-9; season-high 18 assists on 28 baskets). However, it was not enough as the biggest differences in the contest were points in the paint (FDU outscored 42-34), points off turnovers (SFPA 22 points off 16 Knights' miscues; FDU nine points off 13 Red Flash miscues), second chance points (FDU outscored 16-9) and rebounds (FDU out-rebounded 31-26, including 13-6 on the offensive glass).

Scouting Stony Brook: The Seawolves (2-4) have lost two in a row and three of their last four after falling at Eastern Illinois this past Saturday, 72-69. Stony Brook which was picked to finish second in the America East preseason poll, has dropped all four of its road games this season (96-66 at Indiana, 74-63 at NEC foe Sacred Heart, 63-58 at Northwestern and 72-69 at EIU), but have won both games at home (93-39 over Mount Ida and 67-53 over Columba, a team FDU plays later this season).
Senior Bryan Dougher leads the Seawovles in scoring, averaging 11.8 points per game. Fellow classmates Dallis Joyner and Al Rapier are right behind, averaging 9.8 and 9.0 points per game, respectively, with Rapier's points all coming off the bench. Junior Tommy Brenton leads the team in rebounding, averaging 8.2 rebounds per game and has also dished out 25 assists to lead his squad.
All-Time Series: This will be the fifth meeting between the schools with the series dating back to the 1973-74 season when the Knights opened up their campaign that year with a convincing 77-44 home win over the Seawolves. Both teams did not face each other until the 2006-07 season when Stony Brook defeated the Knights in the only contest at Stony Brook, 82-58. FDU won a year later at Stratis Arena, 74-71. The Seawolves tied the all-time series last year with a 66-59 victory in Hackensack, NJ to spoil the Knights' season opener.
