M. Basketball Looks to Move to .500 on Tuesday at Lafayette

The Fairleigh Dickinson men's basketball team will look move to .500 Tuesday night when they travel to Easton, PA to take on Lafayette.  Tip-off is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. at the Kirby Sports Center.  The game will mark the first of seven-straight away from Stratis Arena for the Knights.

The Knights (1-2) are coming off their first victory of the season this past Friday at Stratis Arena against Saint Peter's, 73-62.  FDU posted its best shooting performance in the last two seasons going 26-for-46 (56.5 percent) from the floor.  They also assisted on 17 of the 26 buckets. 

Grad student George Goode (Raytown, MO/Raytown South) scored double-figures for the second time in as many games as he scored a career-high 16 points, while trying a career high in rebounds with nine.  He also dished out a career-best five assists.  Junior Kinu Rochford (Brooklyn, N.Y./James Madison) added 15 points, seven rebounds, two blocks and two steals.  Junior Melquan Bolding (Mt. Vernon, N.Y./Bishop Stepinac) provided 14 points and a career-high five assists, while junior Lonnie Hayes (Cincinnati, Ohio/Harmony Prep) chipped in 11 points and four steals.

Scouting Lafayette: The Leopards (2-2) come into Tuesday's contest fresh off a six-point home loss to NEC-foe Wagner, 76-70.  FDU is actually the fourth-straight NEC opponent for Lafayette.  After opening the season with a loss at LaSalle (79-53), the Leopards won at Saint Francis PA (84-81) and at home against St. Francis NY (79-73) before losing to Wagner.  Lafayette will also play Long Island, Sacred Heart and Monmouth this season giving them seven total games against the 12-team NEC.  Senior forward Ryan Willen leads the Leopards in both scoring (17.8 ppg) and rebounding (6.3 rpg) and also leads the squad in field goal percentage (63.0 percent) and is shooting 82.1 percent (32-of-39) from the free throw line.  Senior guard Jim Mower is the team's second-leading scorer, averaging 16.5 ppg and has gone 17-for-20 from the free throw line (85.0 percent).
 
All-Time Series: This will be the fifth meeting between the schools as they have played each other the last four seasons.  FDU won the first two contests in the series which started in the 2007-08 season, but the Leopards have won the last two, including a thrilling 98-92 double overtime victory last season at Stratis Arena in Hackensack, NJ. The Knights last defeated Lafayette, 71-68, on February 2, 2009 at Stratis Arena.  FDU is 1-1 all-time on the road versus the Leopards.
