W. Soccer Prepares for Match-Ups With Wagner and The Mount

The Fairleigh Dickinson University women's soccer team will look to improve to a winning record with two Northeast Conference matchups this weekend.  The Knights will travel to Staten Island to face Wagner on Friday, Oct. 7, and will host Mount St. Mary's on Sunday, Oct. 9 at 1:00 pm. 

The Knights are currently 4-5-1 with a 1-2 record in conference.  They most recently defeated Central Connecticut State University, 2-0, with goals from seniors Loren Rich (Northampton, PA/Allentown Central Catholic) and Rashidah Sherman (Pelham Manor, NY/Pelham Memorial).  Sherman leads the team with two goals and two assists. 

Stephanie Tanzi (Smithtown, NY/Smithtown West) will lead the Knights' backline.  Tanzi has played 215 minutes in goal this season with 23 saves in three games played.  She has recorded a save percentage of .793. 

The Seahawks of Wagner (7-3-2, 1-2 NEC) are led by Julie Vigliotti and Jackie Nicholas.  Vigliotti has scored three goals on 22 shots and has assisted three goals for a total nine points.  Nicholas leads the team with four goals. 

Wagner has been outshot 169-132 by opponents in 12 games and has averaged 11 shots per game with 12 total goals.  Kate Marcy has made 59 saves in goal for the Seahawks, while recording a .97 goals per game average. 

The Mount (3-5-2, 1-1 NEC) began the season with a 10th place predicted finish in the preseason coaches' poll.  They have fallen to Rider, St. Joseph's, St. Peter's, Long Island and Wagner and will face Monmouth on Friday. 

Sadie Winship leads The Mount with four points on the season as a result of two goals.  The MSM defense is led by NEC Defensive Player of the Week, Alicia Miller.  Miller has recorded a save percentage of .862 with 69 saves in 11 games. 

After this weekend's series, the Knights will challenge Sacred Heart and Bryant on October 14 and 16.
