W. Volleyball Prepares for Home Match Against Saint Peter's

The Fairleigh Dickinson women's volleyball team returns home to Stratis Arena to face the Saint Peter's Peahens in the Knights' final non-conference contest of the season on Wednesday, Oct. 5, at 7 p.m.

The Knights (10-6) will try to build off Sunday's 3-0 win at Saint Francis PA, while the Peahens (0-17) are still searching for their first win of the year.

Since the 2007 season, the Knights and Peahens have matched up on eight occasions with each squad winning four times.

The teams faced off earlier this season on Sept. 3 at the Lafayette Tournament in Easton, PA. The Knights picked up their third win of the 2011 campaign by cruising to a 3-0 victory with 25-12, 25-15 and 25-13 set wins. In the match, FDU put on an offensive clinic with three players hitting better than .550 in Chelsea Braga (Long Beach, NY/Long Beach ) (.588), Sarah Berkland (Newton, MA/Newton North) (.571) and Meaghan Wheeler (Chatsworth, CA/Chaminade College Prep) (560). As a team, the Knights had a hitting percentage of .443 thanks to 44 kills and just nine errors.

Their last time out, the Knights made quick work of the Saint Francis PA Red Flash with a sweep powered by 22 assists from Sarah Willey (Abingdon, MD/Bel Air) and a team-high 10 digs by Kelsey Semler (Allentown, PA/Allentown Central Catholic).

The Peahens, coming off a 3-0 defeat at the hands of Niagara on Sunday, have suffered 3-0 losses in each of their last seven matches. Offensively, Saint Peter's relies on Kristina Baehr and Anna Molokotina, who have notched 170 and 171 assists, respectively.

The Knights and Peahens have five common opponents in La Salle, Lafayette, Rider, Central Connecticut State and Manhattan. Both teams have played Rider twice with FDU winning two times, while Saint Peter's lost both of its matches to the Broncs. Against the other four opponents, the Knights have a 2-2 record, and the Peahens have gone winless.

Saint Peter's has struggled on the road with 13 losses away from home, while FDU is 1-0 at Stratis Arena this season.

Following Wednesday, the Knights will continue their homestand with a match against NEC opponent Quinnipiac on Saturday, Oct. 8, at 1 p.m.
