W. Soccer Set to Take on Sacred Heart and Bryant This Weekend

The Fairleigh Dickinson University women's soccer team will take on Sacred Heart University and Bryant University this weekend as they look to improve their mark in Northeast Conference play.  The Knights will travel to Fairfield, CT on Friday, Oct. 14 to face SHU and will host Bryant on Sunday, Oct. 16 at University Stadium.

The Knights are 4-7-1 on the season with a 1-4-1 record in conference play.  The team most recently fell to Wagner and Mount St. Mary's after defeating Central Connecticut State on Oct. 2. 

Senior Rashidah Sherman (Pelham Manor, NY/Pelham Memorial) leads FDU with eight points this season.  She has scored three goals, assisted two goals and leads the team with 14 shots on goal.  Lisa-Marie Curti (Richmond Hill, Ontario/St. Theresa of Lisieux) has notched two goals for the team. 

Stephanie Tanzi (Smithtown, NY/Smithtown West) will start in goal for the Knights during both games this weekend.  Tanzi has made 34 saves and allowed 13 goals with a save percentage of .723. 

Sacred Heart comes into the matchup with a 6-4-3 record (2-2-1 NEC). In conference play they were defeated by Robert Morris and St. Francis PA but picked up wins against Quinnipiac and Bryant, while tying CCSU. 

The Pioneers have outscored opponents 20-18 and have averaged 11.1 shots per game.  There are 13 student-athletes on the SHU roster that have recorded points this season with nine athletes who have scored.  Senior Amanda Stiles leads SHU with five goals, while junior Jen Mulvey has three goals and one assist. 

Junior Sydney Judkins leads the Pioneers backline with a .800 save percentage and 48 saves.  Judkins has allowed 12 goals with a 4-3-3 record. 

The Bulldogs of Bryant are 5-6-3 on the season with a 1-3-1 record in conference play.  They are currently on a two-game losing streak and will not face another team before Sunday.  The Bulldogs defeated Wagner but have lost to Monmouth, LIU and Sacred Heart and tied CCSU. 

Bryant has been outscored by opponents, 16-22 in 14 games.  Six athletes on the BU roster have recorded two goals apiece.  Freshman Suzanne Sanders is one of those six and has also added two assists to lead the team with six points.

Junior Kelsi Jacob has led Bryant in goal with 41 saves in nine decisions.  She maintains a .759 save percentage and has allowed 13 goals. 

Following the Bryant game the Knights will hit the road to take on Robert Morris and Saint Francis PA.  Kickoff at RMU is slated for Oct. 21 at 1:00 pm.
