Men's Basketball Looks For Back-To-Back Victories at Bryant

The Fairleigh Dickinson men's basketball team (4-12, 2-4 NEC) will be looking to win back-to-back games for the first time since early December when they travel to Smithfield, RI to take on Bryant on Thursday, Jan. 20, at 7:00 p.m. in the Chace Athletic Center.

FDU defeated Houston Baptist Monday night at home in Stratis Arena, 75-64, to snap a nine-game losing streak.  It was the Knights' first win since they defeated Central Connecticut State at home, 48-46, on Dec. 4.  The Knights took the lead for good midway through the first half and never relinquished it.  Junior Briahn Smith (Detroit, MI/Madison) led the Knights with a career-high 18 points, while knocking down a career-best four three-pointers.  Senior Mike Scott (Philadelphia, PA/Texas Christian) added 14 points, six rebounds and dished out a game-high five assists.  Seniors Kamil Svrdlik (Prerov, Czech Republic/Gymnazium Zlin) and John Galvin (Weston, CT/Weston) each recorded double-doubles as they both ripped down a career-high 16 rebounds, while scoring 13 and 11 points, respectively.  As a team, FDU pulled down 52 rebounds, the most in the history of the program for a single game.

Bryant (5-13, 3-3 NEC) comes into the contest as one of the hottest teams in the NEC.  The Bulldogs have won three games in a row (first time since the 2008-09 season) and picked up a pair of impressive road wins last week versus Quinnipiac (69-61) and Sacred Heart (72-59).  Versus Quinnipiac, Bryant came back from over 20 points down to pull off the upset against the preseason conference favorites.  Freshman Alex Francis comes into the game as the Choice Hotels NEC Rookie of the Week after averaging 17.0 ppg and 9.5 rpg, while shooting 50 percent from the floor.  The Bulldogs are 2-4 at home this season.

After playing Bryant, the Knights will have a quick turnaround as they will travel straight to New Britain, CT to take on Central Connecticut State at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 22.  The Knights defeated the Blue Devils, 48-46, on Dec. 4.

The Series Versus Bryant: The Knights hold a 3-1 advantage in the series and have won three straight.  The Knights won both games last season and won back on Dec. 2 at home versus the Bulldogs, 78-68.  FDU is 1-1 all-time in games played in Smithfield.
