The Fairleigh Dickinson women's volleyball team was able to keep its postseason hopes alive as they shocked second place Robert Morris on the road Saturday afternoon, 3-1, in Moon Township, PA, avenging a loss they suffered earlier in the season by the Colonials. The Knights dropped game one, 25-13, before dominating game two, 25-16. They were then able to squeak out games three and four by identical 25-22 scores. With the victory, the Knights improve to 11-20 (6-9 NEC), while the Colonials fall to 16-17 (13-3 NEC).
Sophomore Meaghan Wheeler (Chatsworth, CA/Chaminade College Prep) picked up her 17th double-double of the season as she paced the Knights with 15 kills and 12 digs. She also shared team-high honors with fellow classmate Violeta Slabakova (Shelby Township, Mich./Utica) with three block-assists. Freshman Ashley Norton (Highlands Ranch, CO/Rock Canyon) chipped in 10 kills on offense.
Junior Sarah Willey (Abingdon, MD/Bel Air) also picked up her 11th double-double of the season as dished out 41 assists and picked up 13 digs on defesne, while freshman Taylor Roland-Buohl (Lancaster, Pa./Lampeter-Strasburg) led the squad with four service aces. Junior Kelsey Semler (Allentown, PA/Allentown Central Catholic) led the Knights with 21 digs.
The Knights conclude their regular season Sunday at 1:00 p.m. versus Saint Francis PA in Loretto, PA. A victory could possibly clinch a playoff spot.
