The Fairleigh Dickinson women's soccer team was on the wrong end of a Northeast Conference match Friday night as they lost to Wagner, 2-0, at University Field in Teaneck. The visitors scored a goal in each half. With the victory, the Seahawks improve to 5-7-2 (1-1-2 NEC) on the season, while the Knights fall to 0-11-0 overall.
In the first half, the Knights had three shots on goal that were turned away. Junior Rashidah Sherman (Pelham Manor, NY/Pelham Memorial) (Pelham Manor, NY/Pelham Memorial) attempted five shots in the first half with two on goal. Her best attempt just sailed over the goal.
Wagner was able to capitalize on a breakway in the 33rd minute as Jackie Nicholas found Julie Vigliotti, who found the back of the net to put the Seahawks up, 1-0.
The Knights out-shot the Seahawks, 8-5, in the first half.
Wagner put the game away in the 80th minute as Catherine Del Medico found the back of the net off a rebound in heavy traffic in front of the net to put the Seahawks up, 2-0, which would be the final outcome.
Junior Stephanie Tanzi (Smithtown, NY/Smithtown West) (Smithtown, NY/Smithtown West) made four saves for the Knights, while Katie Marcy turned away three saves for the Seahawks.
The Knights return to action on Sunday as they host Long Island in a Northeast Conference match at University Field in Teaneck. Kick-off is scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
