Women's Soccer Edged at Lehigh, 1-0

The Fairleigh Dickinson University women's soccer team lost, 1-0, at Lehigh University, Friday, Sept. 26 in Bethlehem, PA.  A second half goal by the Mountain Hawks (4-4-1) ultimately sunk FDU (2-6) under the lights at the Ulrich Sports Complex.

LU junior forward Liz Carlos netted her first goal of the season ? the game-winner in the 55th minute ? after sophomore midfielder Glynn Fitzer delivered a through ball into the box.

Fairleigh Dickinson senior goalkeeper Rachel Derrico (/Canon McMillan) notched five saves, but suffered the loss.  Conversely, Lehigh's sophomore goalie Lauren Mains picked up her fourth shutout of the season.

“It came down to the basics tonight ? we did not execute simple soccer and they did,” Head Coach Renee Montana said.  “Rachel kept us in the game tonight and gave us a chance.  We just didn't put it all together.”

Six Knights took aim at the net through a wet 90 minutes of action.  Four of those attempts came during the final 45 minutes.

FDU returns home at noon, Sunday, Sept 28 to host Lafayette College.
