Women's Soccer Falls at Unbeaten Canisius, 1-0

The Fairleigh Dickinson University women's soccer team dropped to 2-5 overall, Sunday, Sept. 21, following a 1-0 loss at Canisius College in Buffalo, NY.

In the 12th minute, senior midfielder Rebecca Shupe registered the game-winner for the Golden Griffs (5-0-3), with sophomore forward Kasey Makowski notching the assist.

Knights senior goalkeeper Rachel Derrico (/Canon McMillan) made five saves in the setback.

Junior midfielder Lora Lehr (Rosemere, Quebec/Villa Maria) and freshman forward Rashidah Sherman (Pelham Manor, NY/Pelham Memorial) led FDU with a pair of shots.

“I'm proud of our effort today ? it's an unfortunate result when you play hard and can't find that last piece to finish,” Head Coach Renee Montana said.  “Lora played her heart out for 90 minutes.  We'll look to build on all the positives and turn our focus to the next game.”

Home-standing freshman goalie Caroline Robert posted two saves, en route to the win.

Fairleigh Dickinson travels to Bethlehem, PA, Friday, Sept. 26 at 7:00 p.m. to take on Lehigh University.
