Baseball Loses at Seton Hall Wednesday, 9-4

The Fairleigh Dickinson University baseball team fell, 9-4, versus Seton Hall University, Wednesday, April 2 in South Orange, NJ.  The Knights (4-18) were led by a two-hit, two-RBI effort courtesy of senior outfielder John Paganotti (Staten Island, NY/St. Joseph By The Sea).

The Pirates ? who have won eight of their last 10 games ? scored a run in the second and third innings to grab an early lead.  SHU would up its record to 15-12 behind 7.0 innings by freshman lefty Chris Roach.

Fairleigh Dickinson freshman catcher Erik Pollag (Sicklerville, NJ/Paul VI) cut the deficit to 2-1, with an RBI base knock in the top of the fifth.  However, a sacrifice fly in the bottom half of the frame regained the two-run advantage for SHU.

A five-run, sixth inning put Seton Hall up, 8-1.  Sophomore outfielder Chris Spagnuolo plated a pair, part of a three-hit Pirates frame.

Knights freshman infielder Andrew Ahn (Manhasset Hills, NY/Benjamin Cardoza) kick-started a three-run rally in the eighth with a one-out single to centerfield.  Senior infielder Luis Rosario (Bronx, NY/James Monroe) walked with the sacks full, followed by a two-RBI single through the left side by Paganotti ? his second hit of the afternoon.

Freshman right-hander Evan Dechant (Asheville, NC/Asheville) suffered the loss, hurling 5.1 innings.  Freshman righty Chris Theordor (Staten Island, NY/Staten Island Tech) logged a scoreless inning of relief.

Fairleigh Dickinson hosts Mount St. Mary's University at 3:00 p.m., Friday, March 4.  The Knights open their Northeast Conference slate with a four-game set in Teaneck, NJ versus the Mountaineers.
