The Fairleigh Dickinson University baseball team lost a pair of games to Fordham University, Saturday, March 8 at a neutral field in Petersburg, VA. The Knights slipped to 2-4, while the Rams advanced to 3-5.
In game one, FDU fell 25-10, despite three RBI by junior outfielder Matt Maher (Peekskill, NY/JFK Catholic). In the nightcap, the Knights were nipped, 2-1, with freshman catcher Erik Pollag (Sicklerville, NJ/Paul VI) notching three hits.
In the opener, Fordham scored at least four runs in each of the first five frames. FDU held a 2-0 lead after the top of the first, following a two-RBI double to centerfield by Maher. Junior infielder Zachary Sand (San Diego, CA/Mission Bay) homered to begin a two-run third inning.
Freshman infielder Steven LaForge (Garfield, NJ/St. Mary) and sophomore outfielder Patrick Furey (Ponoma, NY/North Rockland) drove in a run in the ninth with RBI base knocks. Lazar plated a pair to cap a six-run frame.
Two unearned runs in the nightcap sank the Knights. Junior lefty John Meadus (Mt. Holly, NJ/Holy Cross) was saddled with the loss, after hurling six innings. Freshman right-hander Zachary Kisling tossed two shutout of relief.
Junior outfielder Jeff Vincent (Murrysville, PA/Franklin Regional) brought in Fairleigh Dickinson's lone run in the second inning with an RBI single.
The teams will play a pair, Sunday, March 9, with first pitch slated for noon at the same complex.
