Women?s Soccer Falls at Rutgers, 5-0

The Fairleigh Dickinson University women's soccer team lost, 5-0, at Rutgers University's Yurcak Field, Sunday, Sept. 23 in Piscataway, NJ.  The Knights slipped to 0-7 on the year, while the No. 14 nationally-ranked Scarlet Knights improved to 5-3.

 

Sophomore defender Rebecca Wise (West Springfield, MA) chased down a through pass down the right side and delivered a cross into the box for junior midfielder Alicia Hall (Port Republic, NJ) who tapped in the game-winner in the 10th minute.  Sophomore midfielder Kristie Lang (East Brunswick, NJ) struck two minutes later, with freshman forward Rheanne Sleiman (North Vancouver, British Columbia) and Hall assisting.

 

FDU junior goalkeeper Rachel Derrico (/Canon McMillan) (Canonsburg, PA) started in net, registering eight saves.

 

Rutgers tallied three goals in a span of 10 minutes during the second stanza.  Sophomore forward Caycie Gusman (Honolulu, HI) netted a pair in the 70th and 80th minute, with sophomore midfielder Gina Demaio (Parsippany, NJ) scoring in between.

 

Fairleigh Dickinson hosts Canisius College at 4:00 p.m., Friday, Sept. 28 in Teaneck, NJ.
