Baseball Topped Twice at St. John's

The Fairleigh Dickinson University baseball team lost a pair of games ? 7-2 and 12-2 ? at St. John's University, Wednesday, April 11 in Queens, NY. Sophomore outfielder Matt Maher (Peekskill, NY/JFK Catholic) (Peekskill, NY) collected two hits in the opener, while junior John Paganotti (Staten Island, NY/St. Joseph By The Sea) (Staten Island, NY) tallied two hits and two RBIs in game two, as the Knights fell to 7-20 on the season.

 

In game one, the Red Storm (18-11) plated a pair of runs in the first two innings to jump out to an early 4-0 advantage and chase starting sophomore right-hander Nick Blanco (Bronx, NY/St. Raymond's) (Bronx, NY) from the game after two innings of work.

 

Down seven, FDU scored a tandem of runs in the sixth when Maher doubled to right field and sophomore infielder Jeff Vincent (Murrysville, PA/Franklin Regional) (Belmar, PA) pulled a base hit to left field to score his classmate. Two batters later, sophomore infielder Zachary Sand (San Diego, CA/Mission Bay) (San Diego, CA) brought around Vincent with a single to left.

 

In the nigthcap, Paganotti sent a pitch through the right side in the fourth inning to notch an RBI and drove a pitch back through the box in the sixth for an RBI base knock. Sophomore righty Bryan Greer (Boca Raton, FL/Olympic Heights) (Boca Raton, FL) suffered the loss, allowing one earned run through one inning.

 

The Knights travel to Fairfield, CT for a four-game, Northeast Conference set against home-standing Sacred Heart University, Friday, April 13. First pitch of the series is set for 3:30 p.m.
