Baseball Falls in Home Opener Versus Albany, 2-1

The Fairleigh Dicksinon University baseball team was defeated, 2-1, by the University at Albany, Friday, March 30 in Teaneck, NJ. Senior right-hander Stephen Eng (Fresh Meadows, NY/St. Francis Prep) (Fresh Meadows, NY/St. Francis Prep) allowed three hits, en route to logging eight innings, as the Knights dropped their 2007 home opener and slipped to 5-12 on the season.

Eng fanned five ? including striking out the side in the top of the seventh inning ? and allowed no earned runs, despite falling to 1-3 on the year.

A two-run double to left-center field by Albany (7-10) infielder Sean Donovan in the third proved the game-winning hit. FDU created a 2-1 deficit in the bottom of the sixth when sophomore infielder Jeff Vincent (Murrysville, PA/Franklin Regional) (Belmar, PA/Franklin Regional) lead off the frame with a two-bagger to right-center field and scored three batters later on a balk.

Great Danes righty John Naples improved to 3-2 this season, tossing 6.1 innings and sitting down nine.

The Knights ? who are slated for a four-game set versus Albany ? play a twin bill at noon, Saturday, March 31.
