The Fairleigh Dickinson University women's soccer team advanced to 3-3 in the Northeast Conference following a 2-0 victory over Wagner College, Sunday, Oct. 21 in Staten Island, NY. The Knights (5-10) scored two first-half goals to take down the Seahawks (3-10-1 overall, 1-4 NEC).
Sophomore midfielder Jennifer Arceneaux (/Ralston Valley) (Arvada, CO) buried the game-winner in the left corner from 15 yards out in the 10th minute. Sophomore midfielder Christine Niven (/Middleboro) (Middleboro, MA) struck in the 15th minute, following a throw-in by freshman midfielder Lisa-Marie Curti (Richmond Hill, Ontario/St. Theresa of Lisieux) (Richmond Hill, Ontario).
“This is a good win good,” Head Coach Renee Montana said. “It's good to get three points, and it was important to bounce back from Friday. Wagner stepped up its game in the second-half, but we played well and controlled the flow.”
Junior goalkeeper Rachel Derrico (/Canon McMillan) (Canonsburg, PA) registered seven saves, en route to the win.
Fairleigh Dickinson travels to Fairfield, CT to take on Sacred Heart University at noon, Sunday, Oct. 28.
