The Fairleigh Dickinson University women's soccer team lost, 2-0, versus Long Island University, Friday, Oct. 19 in Brooklyn, NY. The Knights slipped to 4-10 overall and 2-3 in the Northeast Conference, while the Blackbirds moved to 7-5-1 and 3-1 in the NEC.
Seconds before halftime, Brittany Shandelmayer (Stow, MA) headed home the game-winner, capitalizing on a corner kick from Nicole Allen (Spencer, MA). Eleri Earnshaw (Rhyl, Wales) added an unassisted insurance marker in the 66th minute.
“It's extremely disappointing to drop a game like this,” Head Coach Renee Montana said. “It was back and forth, but in the second half they outplayed us. They scored both goals on set plays and we gave up a game we shouldn't have with mental lapses.”
FDU travels to Staten Island, NY at 1:00 p.m., Sunday, Oct. 21 to take on Wagner College.
