TEANECK, NJ - The Fairleigh Dickinson University baseball team lost two games to visiting Lafayette College on Saturday, May 6 at FDU Field. The Knights (9-34) fell 6-0 in the opener, then were on the losing end of a 3-2, extra-inning battle in Game Two.

In Game One, Lafayette's Matt Revelle (Columbia, MD/Atholton) fanned four, hurling a seven-inning shutout. The Leopards' (25-23) right-hander scattered four hits, with FDU senior catcher Matt Born (Saskatoon, Canada/Bedford Road Collegiate) notching a pair of base hits.

Sophomore southpaw John O'Hara (Staten Island, NY/St. Peter's) was touched up for two earned runs in 6.2 innings, striking out nine.

Freshman designated hitter Bryan Greer (Boca Raton, FL/Olympic Heights) smacked a two-out double down the left field line in the bottom of the sixth - representing the squad's only extra base hit.

In the nightcap, Lafayette took a 1-0 lead in the first inning, scoring an unearned run off junior starter Stephen Eng (Fresh Meadows, NY/St. Francis Prep). The right-hander tossed eight innings, surrendering six hits, while sitting down five.

The Knights came alive late, when freshman left fielder Matt Maher (Peekskill, NY/JFK Catholic) led off the bottom of the sixth with a single. Junior centerfielder Chris Grabowski (Brooklyn, NY/Xaverian) followed suit, slicing a 1-2 pitch down the right field line and hustled his way to a game-tying double.

Freshman shortstop Jeff Vincent (Belmar, PA/Franklin Regional) advanced Grabowski to third with a groundout. Born laced a liner to deep right to plate the go-ahead run.

Trailing 2-1 in the final frame, the Leopards smacked two doubles to tie the contest at 2-2. Pinch hitter Kevin Reese (East Stroudsburg, PA/Blair Academy) drove in the tying run with a rope down the left field line. In Lafayette's ensuing at-bat, freshman Brian Luchsinger (Farmingville, NY/Sachem East) laid out to snare a shot to third, while senior Ben Cass (Warwick, NY/Warwick Valley) made the scoop across the diamond to save a run.

However, Lafayette catcher Tom Ambrosole (Staten Island, NY/Tottenville) connected on the game-winning double in extra innings. The Knights left the tying run aboard in the bottom half of the eighth.

Fairleigh Dickinson travels to Easton, PA for a double dip against the Leopards on Sunday, May 7, with first pitch set for 1:00 p.m.
