Baseball Loses 7-5 at Fordham on Tuesday

BRONX, NY - The Fairleigh Dickinson University baseball team fell 7-5 to Fordham University on Tuesday, May 16 at Houlihan Park. Freshman first baseman Bryan Greer paced the Knights' offense with two hits - one a solo home run - and two runs scored.

The Rams touched up right-hander Nick Blanco for two runs in the bottom of the first inning, in the freshman's first collegiate start.

Greer made it a one-run contest in the second, smacking a solo shot over the left field wall and into the bleachers. The freshman reached base on four occasions, working two walks.

In the fifth, freshman third baseman Brian Luchsinger earned one of his three walks, then stole second base. Freshman second baseman TJ Pilla knocked in the FDU's second run of the game with a base hit up the middle.

Fordham would push on to take a 7-2 lead, but the Knights rallied for three runs in the eighth. Fairleigh Dickinson cut the deficit to 7-4 in the eighth when sophomore shortstop Jovan Santos roped a two-run double to the left centerfield gap. Freshman designated hitter Mark Morton drove home the third run of the frame with an RBI groundout.

The Knights host Sacred Heart University at noon on Friday, May 19 for a Northeast Conference doubleheader at FDU Field.
