TEANECK, NJ - The Fairleigh Dickinson University baseball team defeated visiting Mount St. Mary's University, 8-6, on Sunday, May 14 at FDU Field. Senior second baseman Matt Born (/) (Saskatoon, Canada) drove in three and sophomore shortstop Jovan Santos (Woodhaven, NY/Archbishop Malloy) (Woodhaven, NY) brought home two with one-out doubles in the bottom of the eighth inning, securing the Knights' (10-39, 6-15 NEC) first victory at home this season.
FDU trailed 6-0 entering the eighth, when freshman left fielder Matt Maher (Peekskill, NY/JFK Catholic) (Peekskill, NY) led off the inning with a base hit. FDU's lead-off man - who plated two runs in the bottom half of the frame - also walked with the bases loaded later in the inning.
Santos and Born punctuated the rally with two-baggers with the sacks full, as FDU's shortstop ripped a shot to left-centerfield, while Born laced a liner down the left field line to give Fairleigh Dickinson an 8-6 advantage.
