Box Score

TEANECK, NJ - The Fairleigh Dickinson University baseball team lost both games of a doubleheader to visiting Mount St. Mary's on Saturday, May 13 at FDU Field. The Knights (9-39, 5-15 NEC) were edged in the final two innings of Game One, 5-1, then dropped a 7-0 contest in the nightcap to The Mount (23-23, 12-10 NEC).

In the opener, FDU broke a scoreless tie in the bottom of the fourth inning when sophomore shortstop Jovan Santos (Woodhaven, NY) drove an outside pitch down the right field line for a two-bagger, plating freshman designated hitter Bryan Greer (Boca Raton, FL) who connected on a one-out single up the middle two batters earlier.

Senior right-hander Rick Franceschi (Franklinville, NJ) was in control on the hill, until the Mountaineers' designated hitter Joe Kotula deposited a 3-1 pitch over the centerfield fence for a two-out solo shot in the sixth. Franceschi scattered six hits in 6.1 innings, sitting down two.

Mount St. Mary's struck for four runs in the seventh to seal the win for lefty Dustin Pease (Baltimore, MD) who picked up his 10th victory of the season on the strength of a five-hit, complete-game performance.

Senior second baseman Matt Born (Saskatoon, Canada) paced Fairleigh Dickinson's offense with two hits, including a double in the first inning.

In Game Two, right-hander Andrew Germuth (Severn, MD) hurled seven shutout innings, limited the Knights to six hits, as the top of FDU's lineup each notched one.

Righty Ryan Hennessy (Mahopac, NY) allowed one earned run in 2.2 innings of relief.

The Knights host the Mount at noon for a nine-inning game on Sunday, May 14 at FDU Field.
