Baseball Loses Two Games at Monmouth on Sunday

WEST LONG BRANCH, NJ - The Fairleigh Dickinson University baseball team lost both games of a doubleheader at Monmouth University on Sunday, April 23. The Knights (8-26, 5-9 NEC) dropped Game One, 7-4, before falling in the nightcap, 9-1.

Trailing 2-0 in the second inning, FDU cut the deficit to one when freshman left fielder Matt Maher knocked a base hit to centerfield, scoring junior right fielder Vincente Medina.

The Knights took the lead, 3-2, in the top half of the third when freshman designated hitter Bryan Greer smacked an RBI single, followed by an RBI by Medina.

Freshman second baseman Jeff Vincent doubled down the left field line to drive in the Fairleigh Dickinson's final run in the fifth frame.

Sophomore southpaw John O'Hara suffered the loss, hurling 5.1 innings.

Senior catcher Matt Born paced the offense with three hits, with Greer notching two.

In Game Two, Monmouth's Brad Brach tossed a complete-game, limiting the Knights to six hits.

Medina scored FDU's lone run via a wild pitch in the fifth inning.

The Knights visit the NEC-leading Hawks at 3:30 p.m. on Monday, April 24 for the series finale.
