Baseball Loses Two at St. John's on Tuesday

QUEENS, NY - The Fairleigh Dickinson University baseball team dropped both games of a twin bill at St. John's University on Tuesday, April 18.

In Game One, the Knights (7-24, 5-7 NEC) jumped out to a 1-0 advantage in the top half of the first frame, following a base on balls by sophomore shortstop Jovan Santos.

In the second inning, FDU tacked on an additional two runs to regain the lead, 3-1, by virtue of disciplined at-bats, in addition to Red Storm miscues defensively.

In his first start in the field, sophomore first baseman John O'Hara tallied two hits and scored twice in three plate appearances.

The Knights would hold a lead on three occasions, however, a three-run fourth inning by St. John's propelled the Big East squad to its eighth-straight non-conference victory, 10-4.

Freshman right-hander Ryan Hennessy took the loss, working 3.2 innings. Freshman righty John Arciuolo tossed the remaining 2.1 innings, striking out three.

In the nightcap, FDU fell, 8-0. Sophomore right-hander Tim Bonham gave up three earned runs in three innings, taking the loss. Freshman righty Ben Green threw two scoreless innings of relief.

Freshman left fielder Matt Maher put forth a two-hit effort.

The Knights travel to St. Peter's at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday, April 19.
