The Fairleigh Dickinson University women's volleyball team (10-17, 0-3 NEC) fell to visiting Long Island (14-11, 3-0 NEC) in three games on Sunday afternoon at the Rothman Center. The Blackbirds won 30-17, 30-20 and 30-25.
Sophomore Elena Schmidt (Nevada City, CA) led the Knights with nine kills and freshman Megan Philbrick (Seabrook, MD) added seven. Sophomore Ruth Levy (Cary, NC) tallied 12 assists, sophomore Lauren Lombardo (New Castle, PA) had four aces and freshman Karolina Kowalski (North Arlington, NJ) notched 13 digs. Freshman Lauren Boothby (Glen Gardner, NJ) posted three blocks.
Senior Jade Gold (Jupiter, FL) had 13 kills for Long Island and senior Lizelle Jackson (Palmdale, CA) notched 11 kills. Junior Weronika Swiatczak (Lodz, Poland) posted 30 assists and Jackson had 15 digs. Gold tallied six blocks.
The Knights are back in action in Riverdale, NY on Wednesday, October 26 when they play Manhattan at 7:00 p.m.
