Bryan Costello joined Fairleigh Dickinson University as an Athletic Communications Graduate Assistant in August of 2019.
At FDU, Costello will be the primary contact for the women’s soccer, men’s/women’s cross country, and men’s/women’s track and field teams. He will oversee the day-to-day tasks, which includes promoting the Knights varsity programs on the FDU athletics website, recordkeeping, and writing press releases.
Costello arrived to Teaneck after spending a year at Tufts University as an Athletic Communications Intern. During his time at Tufts, he shared responsibilities for the 2018 men’s soccer National Champions, men’s/women’s cross country, women’s basketball, men’s/women’s swimming and women’s lacrosse teams.
In his year at Tufts, he nominated athletes for Player of the Week Awards, wrote press releases, updated player bios, created game-day programs, conducted post-game interviews, and compiled the information for “This Week in Tufts Athletics.” He also created highlight videos, was the PA announcer at different Tufts sporting events, and wrote player feature stories about the student-athletes.
Costello also created a template for Tufts that shows the Jumbos all-time record against various opponents in 14 different varsity sports.
Prior to working at Tufts, Costello was an Athletic Communications Intern at Babson College from January-May in 2018. In his time at Babson, he wrote student-athlete feature stories, game recaps, and streamed sporting events. He also helped promote the Babson brand through social media platforms, logged statistics through STATCREW and Presto, and helped update the record books.
Costello graduated from Lasell College (now Lasell University) in 2018, with a Bachelor’s Degree in Sports Management. At Lasell, he played club rugby and was a resident assistant for three years. He also interned with Lasell’s athletic department as a sophomore and helped with the Lasers game-day operations. Costello hosted his own radio show for four years and had various guests join the show, including current FDU men’s basketball coach Greg Herenda. In high school, he was a three-sport varsity letterman having played football, basketball, and volleyball.
A native of Methuen, Ma., Costello is currently pursuing his Master’s Degree in Sports Administration.
