Fairleigh Dickinson women's basketball head coach Angelika Szumilo announced Thursday that Kaity Healy will join her staff as an assistant coach starting with the 2021-22 season.

Healy, a Freehold, N.J. native, joins the Knights after one season at Florida International University (FIU) as the assistant director of basketball operations and before that was the director of basketball operations at Holy Cross during the 2019-2020 season.

A former student-athlete herself, Healy was a four-year letterwinner on the Seton Hall women's basketball team, competing for the Pirates from 2015 until 2019. She spent three seasons as her team's captain. Off the court, she was a four-year selection to the Dean's List for Seton Hall's Stillman School of Business and to the BIG EAST All-Academic Team. In 2018, she was inducted into Chi Alpha Sigma, an honor society for student-athletes holding a cumulative GPA of 3.4 or higher.

"I am very excited about the addition of Kaity Healy to our coaching staff," said Szumilo. "Kaity is coming home and I can't wait for her to start working with our team. She was a three-year captain on a very good Seton Hall team where she played under my former head coach, Tony Bozella."

"She was also part of two very well respected programs at Holy Cross and FIU. I am looking forward to Kaity making positive impact from day one. Kaity possesses extraordinary work ethic, internal drive, energy and passion. She will be a great role model for our players, especially our guards as she will be in charge of their development on and off the court," she added.

Throughout her collegiate career, Healy received multiple opportunities for leadership development, including being named to the Class of 2019 for the Women's Basketball Coaches Association's "So You Want to Be A Coach" program. She was selected to attend the New Jersey Association of Athletics for Women Leadership Symposium in 2018, and she also participated in the University and BIG EAST Time Management Plan Committee in 2017-2018.

She was additionally the women's basketball team representative for Seton Hall's Student-Athlete Advisory Committee and represented Seton Hall at the BIG EAST's annual SAAC Meeting in 2017, in which student-athletes from Big East schools gathered to discuss and increase awareness of mental health issues.

"I am thrilled and excited to join Coach Szumilo's staff and to help continue the success of this program in a state where I've had so many great memories, built so many relationships and enjoyed so many great experiences," said Healy. "I can't wait to call New Jersey home again!"
