Tom Green served as the head coach of the Fairleigh Dickinson University men’s basketball team from 1983-2009. Green compiled the most wins in FDU program history with a record of 407-351 for a .536 win percentage. His 260 conference victories still ranks first all-time among Northeast Conference coaches. He finished his tenure with a record of 260-190 against league foes, which represents a better than 60 percent win percentage.
Green led the Knights to four NCAA Tournament berths in 1985, 1988, 1998 and 2005 and two National Invitational Tournament Appearances in 1991 and 2006.
In 26 at the helm of the Knights, Green recorded 18 winning seasons with 16 NEC Tournament semifinal appearances. Under Green, the Knights played in nine NEC Championship games.
During his time with FDU, Green was named Coach of the Year on numerous occasions. He received the honor twice from the Northeast Conference, three times from the New Jersey Writers’ Association, three times from the New Jersey Coaches’ Association, once from the Metropolitan Basketball Writers’ Association and once as awarded by the NIT.
