In June of 2022 Director of Athletics, Bradford Hurlbut elevated first-year assistant Manny Roman to the position of head coach.

"I am thrilled to announce Manny Roman as FDU's new head baseball coach," remarked Hurlbut. "Manny has done a terrific job as our assistant coach and played a tremendous role in the resurgence of Knights baseball. He will be able to seamlessly continue the rebuilding process begun under Rob DiToma and take the Burgundy and Blue to even greater heights. Manny is well-respected in the coaching ranks and our student-athletes feed off of his energy and baseball knowledge. We are all excited about the Roman era of Knights baseball!"

Roman wasted no time in picking up his first Division I head coaching win when the Knights defeated the Butler Bulldogs in the opening game of the 2023 season with a thrilling come-from-behind 9-8 victory on February 17.

Before becoming FDU's head coach, Roman joined former head coach Rob DiToma's staff following a four-year stint as the recruiting coordinator and pitching coach at Monroe College in New Rochelle, N.Y. In his first year at FDU, he assisted the staff by working with pitchers on the field and taking to the road to support the Knight's recruiting efforts.

During his time at Monroe, Roman contributed to four regional championships and appeared in two JUCO World Series. He has proven success as a coach with having coached three All-American pitchers, three MLB draft picks and having over 30 players recruited to NCAA and NAIA institutions.

Previously, Roman served as the head coach at Raritan Valley Community College and as an assistant coach and recruiting coordinator at Lackawanna College in Scranton, Pa. where he contributed to a 2015 regional championship.

A Carolina, Puerto Rico native, Roman graduated with his Bachelor's of Science in Sport and Recreation Management from Keystone College in La Plume, Pa.
